iRacing has announced the addition of two new race tracks to their online racing simulation as Australian Oran Park and the Belgian Zolder track will join the simulation in 2010.
Located outside of Sydney, Oran Park is Australia’s oldest operational circuit and has hosted V8 Supercars, the Superbike World Champiopnship and two rounds of Formula One. The track will be demolished in 2010 to make room for housing estate, the iRacing staff has already laser-scanned the track last month, conserving a piece of motorsport history.
Following Circuit Park Zandvoort, Zolder will be the second iRacing track in mainland Europe. Located near the Belgian town of Hasselt, the track was built in 1963 an has hosted notable motor racing such as Formula One and other World Championships ever since. Today, the 4 kilometer Zolder track hosts the FIA GT & WTCC championships, it’s own 24 hour race as part of the Belcar series and countless other national events.
Both tracks will join the simulation in 2010, alongside the already-announced European additions Brands Hatch, Oulton Park & Circuit Park Zandvoort.
