iRacing.com™ - Indycars Coming Soon?

Here’s an interesting new rumor for open-wheel fans as hints are popping up, suggesting that iRacing could be adding the United States’ most popular open-wheel series to their simulation in the future.

Indycar fans visting the series’ official homepage are currently getting a special deal from iRacing, being able to subscribe for three months for $25. Furthermore, iRacing is now the sponsor of the series’ RaceControl video streaming site.

This raises the question which content in iRacing would be able to attract the Indycar crowd. Most open-wheel racing fans aren’t much in favour of stock car racing, a category which makes up a big part of iRacing’s content portfolio. There are two minor class open-wheelers in the simulation, but it’s doubtful if that would be enough to interest real open-wheel fanatics.

The addition of high-profile open wheel cars would almost complete iRacing’s lineup of American racing cars as the sim already offers cars from all three NASCAR divisions, a Grand Am prototype and plenty of American tracks. Machinery from the American Le Mans series will also join the simulation soon…making open-wheelers the last big gap in terms of American content.
